Generosity Summit Overview

The Generosity Summit is a one-day training to help leaders create a culture of generous giving in their churches. Originally created through the partnership of Generous Giving, Andy Stanley, and the Baptist General Conference, the Summit was piloted in February 2007 at North Point Church in Alpharetta, Georgia with 100 of the top BGC pastors and leaders. The Summit presentation day itself is both video driven and speaker driven, with speakers Bob Coy, Randy Pope and Andy Stanley presenting, as well as inviting significant roundtable interaction by participants. It encompasses a strategic planning session where participants take the principles they have learned and apply them to their own church dynamic. Our hope is that the Summit helps each local church maximize the generosity potential of their congregation while creating a network of local church generosity and stewardship teams that share best practices, resources and ideas, in order to result in greater kingdom impact locally, regionally and globally. We aim to create a new culture of giving in our churches. This is one way the district can give back to our churches. We encourage all congregations to participate and gain new perspective on this foundational principle of being generous in all areas of Christian life.

Just Imagine if your church had “generosity” as a core value … giving liberally of their time, talent and treasure … individuals and families, having learned to be good stewards of what God has given them, minimizing their debt so that they can maximize their giving … stepping up to new opportunities to serve God, each other and the community … just imagine a church set free from the bondage of greed and the joy that would overflow from that church! You don’t have to imagine … that kind of church exists! The Summit is more than theory … it is learning from and leveraging the expertise of some of our country’s leading pastors. Isn’t it time generosity was unleashed in your church? To participate in a Generosity Summit gathering, churches are asked to send a team of 8 people that includes a good mix of staff and lay people. They should be like-minded and have a heart for seeing generosity of time, talent and treasure become a core value at your church. Your team should be those who can carry out any vision for improvement that God may give you at the event. Only a select group of local churches (primarily ones closest to the host church) will attend each event. This will allow for a more interactive, hands-on experience for every church team that attends.

The MBC Converge MidAtlantic district will host its first Generosity Summit on March 7, 2009 at Old North Church in Canfield, OH.
